Inspection of Old Daman Ganga Bridge PWD, Daman

2009-2012

Old Daman Ganga Bridge collapsed and was later reconstructed using steel girders. However other spans showed signs of fatigue and distress and hence it was inspected first by us in 2009 post monsoon and two wheeler traffic was allowed.  We were monitoring the bridge on a continuous manner for geometric deformation and settlements, which resulted in the bridge needing to be inspected again pre monsoon and based on results it was decided to close the bridge for all traffic during monsoon. Post monsoon we allowed again two wheelers to ply on the bridge. However by 2012 we had to declare the bridge as unsafe for any vehicles to ply and were forced to close the bridge.
Inspection of Dui Ghogla Bridge PWD, Diu 2009-2010 Dui Ghogla bridge on the creek is the only all season connection between Dui and Mainland. This bridge showed signs of local distress during a preliminary inspection and PWD Dui decided to undertake complete inspection of bridge and rehabilitation of the bridge. IDDC was given the responsibility to inspect the bridge, based on the inspection of bridge, a complete rehabilitation plan was prepared which was executed under our supervision and Project management. Once the rehabilitation system was put in place, we re-inspected the bridge to evaluate the improvement in parameters and the same were observed to have resulted due to our rehabilitation design. Similar inspection and design of rehabilitation of bridge was also undertaken for PWD Maharashtra, Surat Municipal Corporation, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and PWD Silvassa. IDDC is a pioneer in Bridge Inspection using advanced 2nd Generation Testing system when IDDC introduced Ground penetrating Radar system for bridge inspection and testing. Similar system was also used on Kune valley viaduct on Mumbai Pune Expressway to define the zone of delamination between the bridge deck and overlay.
Audit of 450+ structures coming under tunnel influence zone

ITD – ITD Cementation JV, Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation

2010-2012

All underground metro construction requires monitoring and inspection of all buildings and structures coming in the zone of influence of the impact due to tunneling. Such inspection is essential before actual start of tunneling. During tunneling, structures showing signs of distress are monitored in real time and should any structures show deterioration during tunneling operation, corrective or preventive action is warranted. IDDC has provided service for such an operation for the pre tunneling part of the work in Kolkatta. Preliminary inspection of over 1000 buildings and structures was also undertaken as a pre tender activity for Delhi Metro line between Dwarka and T2 terminal of IG Airport.
Detailed Inspection of Old Goa Tunnel Konkan Railway Corporation 2002-2004 All major tunnels on Mumbai Goa route belonging to Konkan Railway were inspected for structural adequacy after 10 years of their service. IDDC is probably the only Consultant who has the expertise to inspect tunnel and test them using 2nd Generation Non Destructive Techniques like Low Strain Integrity testing and Ground Impulse Radar system. IDDC has inspected tunnels in Himalayan region also. Detailed rehabilitation system was also designed for various types of problems that tunnels in various geography face. Tunnel at high altitude and in seismic sensitive zone have a different set of problems for which solutions have to designed on case to case basis. IDDC is a pioneer in Tunnel inspection when they perfected the technique to inspect tunnel using LSIT and GPR at Water tunnel for MCGM between Futka tank and Sewree in 1997.
Inspection of Jetties and Marine structures in Naval Port Vizag, Maharashtra costal area and Mumbai
  • Naval Port Vizag
  • Naval Port at Mumbai
  • Maharashtra Maritime board
  • Mazgaon Docks Limited
Mumbai Port Trust

2002-2008.

2002-2016
Major jetty structures and marine structures in Vizag port (Navy) were inspected for distress and fatigue. The Inspection also involved underwater inspection and videography which enabled the authorities to take a call on the actual status of the structure. Some of the structures were a combination of concrete and steel and accordingly the procedure of inspection and testing were modified. Steel components of structures were tested for their parameters to define the level of distress if any and concrete component were tested for standard procedure as defined for concrete structures. Remedial measures were designed based on the level of distress and fatigue. Similar work was also executed for Naval Port at Mumbai, Maharashtra Maritime board, Nhava Sheva Port trust (second party), Mazgaon Docks Limited , Mumbai Port Trust etc

Inspection of Bridges on National Highway for TOT project of NHAI on 11 Toll plaza sections V R Techniques 2017 Bridges and culverts on 11 Toll plaza sections measuring over 550kms of National Highway were inspected. The work involved conducting inventory of all structures as per IBMS protocol, definition of ratings for each structure to define the level of possible distress. Based on these ratings, detailed inspection of each bridge to ascertain the rating and define the possible deterioration in the bridges and detailed testing of about 13 bridges identified to be having distress. Definition of deterioration model for these 13 bridges to conclude the possible balance service life of the bridges.

Audit of structures for Power plant at Dahanu and Tarapur Reliance Power and Department of Atomic Energy 2002-2014 IDDC is a pioneer in power plant inspection of all types including Atomic power stations, Hydro power plants, and Thermal Power Plants. Each power plant has a unique process and based on the process the structures are different. Like in Thermal power plant we have the coal process where coal is delivered to the power plant and then transferred to storage area, then transported to power plant for crushing and finally used. All structures handling Coal fall under Coal process of thermal plant, similar process for water and Steam also exist and structures related to them are to be inspected accordingly. Chimney inspection is an art and the most difficult procedure. IDDC has inspected chimneys of various plants varying heights upto  275 meters.
