UNIFIED BRIDGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (UBMS)

Shaping the future of bridge management

Inspection, testing, repair and rehabilitation is the need for sustaining the bridges with the experience of developing and implementing the bridge management systems, research has the improved systems of GABM – Global Analytics for Bridge Management & GARM – Global Analytics for Risk Management.

GABM & GARM are Bridge Management  applications researched and evolved by UBMS Research Group [URG]. URG is a independent research organization dedicated to Enhancing Bridge Management System. IDDC and URG are associates, working together to promote Bridge Management integrated with innovative and  cutting edge technologies. URG will support IDDC’s clients by providing GABM & GARM.

GABM/GARM

Global Analytics for Bridge Management [GABM] produces an innovative bridge inspection report. This report provides all output results that any bridge management is required to provide. GABM application has algorithm that will provide Balance Service Life [BSL] and Absolute BSL. This evaluation is based on Symptoms of distress, cause identification and performance monitoring. This triple evaluation technique covers bridges in all ages. It furthermore provides information regarding the Median Service Life which provided critical information relating to the efficiency possible from Remedial interventions. Efficiency definition along with BSL enables the user to determine if remedial interventions should be provided.

The report identifies the principal causes of distress, provides the principle of remedial interventions and the methodology of work items. Financial due diligence results in Tangible and Intangible Internal Rate of Return.  The various factors affecting the bridge structure are enumerated in the report.Vulnerability and risk index for each of the four natural hazards are displayed in the report. This evaluation is based on the impact of structural status and geographical vulnerability and risk index for the region. The key aspects that the structural design of remedial measures that needs focus to enhance resilience are defined. The possibility of bridge failures/ survival in future should a natural hazard occurs are evaluated and presented. This key information enables the users to identify level of enhancements required to bring Resilience in the bridge. UBMS Research Group has integrated high-end innovative technologies within GABM, rendering versatility in bridge management. A sample report is presented for a bridge.

  • Valid for 500 bridges for 10 years

GLOBAL ANALYTICS FOR RESILIENCE & RISK MANAGEMENT [GARM]

GARM is an internet-based aggregation software designed to integrate multiple GABM databases.

Key Features:

  • Predict bridge status post-occurrence of natural hazards.
  • Define the probability of survival in Bridges
  • Establish boundaries for bridge Survival
  • Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) process for ranking and prioritizing bridges for optimum fund management.

Versions Available:

GARM VM

  • Features: Includes MCDM
  • Support: One GARM can support databases of up to 6 GABM.
  • Requirements: Domain name and hosting facility for URG to upload GARM. A maximum 2TB storage space may be essential. GARM operates based on databases from GABM only.

GLOBAL ANALYTICS FOR RESILIENCE & RISK MANAGEMENT [GARM]

GABM & GARM evaluates all the basic requirements of bridge management. The output evaluates the Balance Service life [BSL] and Absolute BSL for both Fifty years/ Hundred year scenario. GABM recognizes that Symptoms based evaluation is good for bridges which are young, Cause based evaluation is possible for bridges in midlife scenario. For aging bridges, Performance [Short term SHM] based evaluation is feasible.

It also provides Financial Due diligence by evaluation of Internal Rate of return [IRR] for Tangible and Non-Tangible benefits.

URG’s commitment: Contribute to the efforts of Disaster Risk Reduction

URG’s researched evolution GABM & GARM, are our humble contribution to the global efforts in Disaster Risk Reduction. Pro-active approach within GABM to enhance Resilience in Bridges, which will yield minimal threats of disruptions. It will contribute to SDG 9 (Industry innovation and infrastructure) SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and communities) yielding SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth).

URG’S commitment to contribute to the efforts of Disaster Risk Reduction is ongoing.
